Regular Season Round 6: Tinguiririca S.F. - CDU Catolica 70-79

Date: October 16, 2016
Universidad Catolica has finally registered their first victory this season after six consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in San Fernando, where they defeated Tinguiririca S.F. (2-5) 79-70. Tinguiririca S.F. was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Brandon Crawford (201-84, college: Albion) notched 23 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Claudio Soto (182-91) supported him with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds by Argentinian power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (196-88) did not help to save the game for Tinguiririca S.F.. The former international guard Jorge Vasquez (185-86) added 11 points. Tinguiririca S.F.'s coach Cipriano Nunez tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Universidad Catolica maintains tenth position with 1-6 record. It was Tinguiririca S.F.'s fourth loss in a row. They keep the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with AB Ancud. Universidad Catolica will play against higher ranked Universidad de Concepcion (#9) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tinguiririca S.F. will play against Puerto Montt and hopes to get back on the winning track.
