Regular Season Round 3: MIA-RO Cantu - VL Pesaro 77-68

There was a surprise result when AV Cantu (1-2) defeated at home VL Pesaro (1-2) 77-68. It looked good early as VL Pesaro took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then AV Cantu had a 18-15 second period charge getting the lead and VL Pesaro was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-77. AV Cantu players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American swingman Tremmell Darden (194-81, college: Niagara) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Dominic Waters (185-86, college: Portland St., agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 14 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four AV Cantu players scored in double figures. American-Hungarian power forward Jarrod Jones (205-90, college: Ball St.) answered with 21 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Marcus Thornton (193-93, college: William & Mary) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for VL Pesaro. AV Cantu's next round opponent will be Banco di Srd (#6) in Sassari and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. VL Pesaro will play at home against Scandone AV (#5) and hope to win that game.
