Regular Season Round 5: GTK Gliwice - Znicz Basket 85-64

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Znicz Basket (1-4) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked GTK Gliwice (4-1) 85-64 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-64. GTK Gliwice outrebounded Znicz Basket 38-25 including 19 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Damian Pieloch (195-89) who scored 20 points. Point guard Michal Jedrzejewski (186-98) chipped in 14 points. Swingman Damian Tokarski (193-88) produced 19 points and guard Adrian Kordalski (185-95) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for GTK Gliwice. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Znicz Basket dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. GTK Gliwice will face Polonia Leszno (#6) on the road in the next round. Znicz Basket will play against GKS Tychy (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
