Regular Season Round 5: Eskilstuna - IK Eos 88-82

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when seventh ranked Eskilstuna (2-1) won against at home 6th ranked IK Eos (2-2) 88-82 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But IK Eos won second period 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Eskilstuna won last quarter 21-17. They made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 IK Eos turnovers and outrebounded them 51-35 including 19 on the offensive glass. IK Eos were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. British-Cameroonian forward Franck Kouagnia (201-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Hannes Widell (183-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Forward Adrian Thorangen (195-93, college: Cuesta JC) answered with 24 points and Polish point guard Daniel Motyka (180-92, college: Wisc.-Superior) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for IK Eos. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Eskilstuna moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Trelleborg. Loser IK Eos dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Eskilstuna will face Huddinge (#6) at home in the next round. IK Eos will play against Helsingborg and hope to win that game.
