Regular Season Round 6: Kataja Basket - Kauhajoki 78-64

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (3-3) was defeated on the road by top-ranked Joensuun Kataja (4-0) 78-64. It looked good early as Kauhajoen Karhu took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Joensuun Kataja had a 31-10 second period charge getting the lead and Kauhajoen Karhu was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-78. Joensuun Kataja players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Kauhajoen Karhu's players. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for guard Byron Wesley (196-92, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Swingman Jarekious Bradley (196-90, college: SE Missouri St.) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Joensuun Kataja's coach Greg Gibson used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Kammeon Holsey (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Austin Hollins (195-91, college: Minnesota) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Kauhajoen Karhu. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Joensuun Kataja have a solid four-game winning streak. Joensuun Kataja moved-up to second place. Kauhajoen Karhu at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Joensuun Kataja's next round opponent will be Salon Vilpas (#3) on the road, which may be the game of the day.
