Regular Season Round 5: Joventut - Baskonia 83-90

Bottom-ranked Joventut is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked Baskonia (4-1) 90-83. Joventut was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Baskonia players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was German center Johannes Voigtmann (210-92) who scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Shane Larkin (180-92, college: Miami, FL) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists. American center Garrett Stutz (212-90, college: Wichita St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Albert Ventura (192-92) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Baskonia moved-up to second place, which they share with Iberostar Tener. and Dominion BB. Joventut at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Baskonia's next round opponent will be Unicaja Malaga (#8) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Joventut will play against La ICL Manresa (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
