Regular Season Round 6: Breidablik - FSU 100-90

Date: October 27, 2016
The most important game in the last round took place in Kopavogur between third ranked FSU (4-2) and sixth ranked Breidablik (3-2) on Thursday night. FSU was defeated by Breidablik on the road 90-100. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of FSU. The game was mostly controlled by Breidablik. FSU managed to win fourth quarter 23-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Breidablik forced 21 FSU turnovers and outrebounded them 48-30 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for American guard Tyrone Garland (185-92, college: La Salle) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 9 steals. Swingman Snorri Vignisson (193-97) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Breidablik players scored in double figures. American forward Terrance Motley (201-91, college: Sam Houston St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Ari Gylfason (186-89) added 14 points in the effort for FSU. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Breidablik moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Valur and Hamar. FSU at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Breidablik is looking forward to face Hamar (#6) on the road in the next round. FSU will play against the league's second-placed Fjolnir and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
