Regular Season Round 9: Budivelnyk - Zaporizhya 108-84

The game between third ranked Zaporizhya (5-3) and fifth ranked Budivelnyk (6-3) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Zaporizhya was crushed by Budivelnyk in Kyiv 84-108. The game was mostly controlled by Budivelnyk. Zaporizhya managed to win third quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Budivelnyk dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Zaporizhya's 34. They outrebounded Zaporizhya 33-20 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Budivelnyk looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 22 passes made by Zaporizhya's players. It was a good game for the former international Ruslan Otverchenko (192-90, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Naturalized Lithuania center Michailis Anisimovas (214-84) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Maks Adam Konate (202-91, agency: Alti Sport) answered with 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Pavlo Burenko (184-90) added 12 points and 7 assists in the effort for Zaporizhya. Five Budivelnyk and four Zaporizhya players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Budivelnyk have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Zaporizhya at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Kryvbas. Budivelnyk are looking forward to face league's second-placed Dnipro in Dnepropetrovsk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zaporizhya will play on the road against Cherkasy and is hoping to win this game.
