Regular Season Round 6: Marin - FC Barcelona II 67-79

There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked Barca II (2-4) defeated on the road 13th ranked Marin (2-4) 79-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Barca II. Marin was better in fourth quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Barca II shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. The best player for the winners was forward Jordi Trias (208-80) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Swingman Aleix Font (192-98, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 22 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jason Cain (208-85, college: Virginia, agency: Stealth Sport) who recorded 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Tim Derksen (191-94, college: USF) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Barca II moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Marin. Marin lost third consecutive game. Barca II will face higher ranked Palma (#8) in S'Arenal in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
