There was no surprise when bottom-ranked San Fernando (0-4) was edged at home by third ranked Huelva (3-1) 73-71 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 19-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. San Fernando was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Pedro Farina (198-92, college: South Plains JC) who scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Kion Brown (201, college: Radford) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Guillermo Alcaraz who recorded 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and center Gonzalo Bueno (205-93) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four San Fernando players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Huelva keeps a position of Group D-B leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser San Fernando still closes the standings with four games lost. Huelva will face San Juan (#4) in San Juan del Puerto in the next round. San Fernando will play on the road against the league's leader Yosiquese in Cordiba and hopes to get finally their first victory.
