Regular Season Round 7: Schwelm - Hagen BG 77-91

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Schwelm. First ranked Hagen BG faced 3rd placed SG Schwelmer Baskets. Guests from Hagen (7-1) defeated host SG Schwelmer Baskets (5-3) 91-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SG Schwelmer Baskets. Hagen BG made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. Strangely SG Schwelmer Baskets outrebounded Hagen BG 43-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. SG Schwelmer Baskets were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Moritz Krume (202-94) fired 18 points for the winners. Lithuania forward Vytautas Nedzinskas (196-87) chipped in 15 points. Five Hagen BG players scored in double figures. Lithuania swingman Andrius Mikutis (194-88, college: John Brown) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Julian Jasinski (201-96) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Hagen BG. They maintain first place in West with 7-1 record, which they share with Muenster. Loser SG Schwelmer Baskets dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Hagen BG will face Herford (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SG Schwelmer Baskets will play against Bonn II and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
