Regular Season Round 4: Maccabi K/G - Maccabi Rishon 82-78

Date: October 29, 2016
Maccabi K/G has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Maccabi Rishon (2-2) 82-78. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maccabi Rishon won fourth quarter 27-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Rishon was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American guard Tyshawn Taylor (191-90, college: Kansas) who scored that evening 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and point guard Eyal Shulman (192-87) supported him with 22 points. Maccabi K/G's coach Natan Cohen allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 assists by American swingman Patrick Richard (196-90, college: McNeese St., agency: Inception Sports) did not help to save the game for Maccabi Rishon. His fellow American import power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) added 17 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi K/G (1-3) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending champion Maccabi Rishon dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Maccabi K/G will play against Hapoel Eilat (#9) on the road in the next round. Maccabi Rishon will play against Galil Gilboa (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
