Regular Season Round 4: Doukas - Iraklis 70-76

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Doukas (3-1) in Athens on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Iraklis (4-0) 76-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Doukas. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Lithuania Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Spanish center Guillem Rubio (202-82) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and guard Alexis Kiritsis (198-82) added 25 points (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!) in the effort for Doukas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iraklis have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with AE Larissas and Panionios. Doukas at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Ethnikos and Faros. Iraklis is looking forward to face Ethnikos (#5) in Piraeus in the next round. Doukas will play on the road against the league's leader AE Larissas and is hoping to win this game.
