Regular Season Round 6: Atomeromu - ZTE NKK 89-58

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Szekszard. Third ranked Atomeromu faced one of their biggest challengers ZTE NKK. Host Atomeromu (4-1) smashed guests from Zalaegerszeg (3-2) 89-58. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ZTE NKK. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game without a history. Atomeromu led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to ZTE NKK's 30. They outrebounded ZTE NKK 28-15 including 19 on the defensive glass. Atomeromu players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by ZTE NKK's players. It was a good game for forward Livia Gereben (183-99) who led her team to a victory with 17 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Slovenia center Eva Lisec (192-95) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Atomeromu players scored in double figures. American guard Kirby Burkholder (183-92, college: JMU, agency: Interperformances) replied with 19 points and international point guard Dora Nagy (170-95) added 14 points in the effort for ZTE NKK. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Atomeromu have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. ZTE NKK at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Miskolc. Atomeromu will play against Vasas Akademia (#8) in Budapest in the next round where they are favorite. ZTE NKK will play on the road against PINKK-Pecsi and hopes to get back on the winning track.
