Regular Season Round 6: Olivar - Santfeliuenc 73-79

There was no surprise in Zaragoza where 12th ranked Olivar (1-4) was defeated by eighth ranked Santfeliuenc (3-2) 79-73 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-73. Santfeliuenc forced 23 Olivar turnovers. Strangely Olivar outrebounded Santfeliuenc 47-29 including a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Canadian forward Bruce Komakech (204-91, college: Davis & Elkins) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Point guard Alberto Balboa (186-79) chipped in 4 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Czech swingman Simon Pursl (200-97) who recorded 23 points and 7 rebounds and Cesar Hidalgo (188-80) added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Olivar's coach Carlos Iglesias rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Santfeliuenc moved-up to fourth place in Group C-A, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Olivar keeps the twelfth position with four games lost. Santfeliuenc will face Cornella (#6) at home in the next round. Olivar will play against Sant Nicolau (#13) in Sabadell and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
