Regular Season Round 4: Hapoel T-A - Maccabi T-A 83-94
Date: October 31, 2016
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tel-Aviv: Maccabi T-A (#1) and Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#4). Hapoel Tel-Aviv was defeated at home 83-94 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi T-A. Hapoel Tel-Aviv managed to win third quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Andrew Goudelock (190-88, college: Charleston) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 4 assists and international Guy Pnini (200-83) who added 21 points during the contest. Five Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Darrell Williams (203-89, college: Tex.A&M-Comm., agency: BeoBasket) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Alando Tucker (198-84, college: Wisconsin) scored 21 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi T-A have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the other side keeps the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face Maccabi Ashdod (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Bnei Hasharon and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
