Tenth ranked Tampereen Pyrinto won a double-overtime thriller edging higher ranked Salon Vilpas by two points 93-95 on Wednesday night. The game took place in Salo. But the guests from Tampere were better at the end. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-18. But Salon Vilpas won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Salon Vilpas used huge pressure winning it 23-15 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually double-overtime period 11-6. They outrebounded Salon Vilpas 47-36 including 36 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. Forward Wally Judge (208-90, college: Rutgers) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. Swingman Ricky Minard (196-82, college: Morehead St., agency: SDJ Sports) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Point guard Juwan Staten (185-92, college: W.Virginia) replied with 24 points and 4 assists and forward Al'Lonzo Coleman (201-89, college: Presbyterian) added 11 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Salon Vilpas. Four Tampereen Pyrinto and five Salon Vilpas players scored in double figures. Salon Vilpas' coach Joonas Iisalo rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tampereen Pyrinto (2-5) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Kouvot. Salon Vilpas lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with three games lost. Tampereen Pyrinto will face higher ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (#3) in Kauhajoki in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Salon Vilpas will play on the road against the league's second-placed Joensuun Kataja and will have a slim chance for a victory.
