Regular Season Round 9: St Vallier - Lourdes 97-81

Date: November 4, 2016
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (3-6) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Saint Vallier (6-3) 97-81 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 46-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Saint Vallier made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Saint Vallier made 7 blocks. Lourdes-Tarbes was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Steffon Bradford (198-77, college: Nebraska) stepped up and scored 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and guard Jesse Delhomme (189-85) chipped in 23 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Xane d'Almeida (181-83) with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international center Ludovic Vaty (206-88, college: Moraine Valley CC) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Lourdes-Tarbes players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Saint Vallier moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Lourdes-Tarbes keeps the thirteenth position with six games lost. Saint Vallier will face Union Rennes (#7) at home in the next round. Lourdes-Tarbes will play against Rueil (#8) and hope to win that game.
