Regular Season Round 9: Pyrinto - Kauhajoki 89-68

The game between third ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (4-4) and ninth ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (3-5) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Kauhajoen Karhu was crushed by Tampereen Pyrinto in Tampere 89-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kauhajoen Karhu. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Tampereen Pyrinto's pressure prevailed and they won that period 29-16 extending their advantage to 21 points. American swingman Ricky Minard (196-82, college: Morehead St., agency: SDJ Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners and Topias Palmi (194-94) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. Four Tampereen Pyrinto players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Kammeon Holsey (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) with 21 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Mansfield and Associates) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Kauhajoen Karhu's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Tampereen Pyrinto moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Kouvot. Kauhajoen Karhu at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with BC Nokia and Lapua. Tampereen Pyrinto is looking forward to face Kouvot (#7) in Kouvola in the next round. Kauhajoen Karhu will play on the road against the league's leader Helsinki Seagulls where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
