Regular Season Round 6: PeU-Basket - Raholan Pyrkiva 84-76

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked PeU-Basket (3-4) defeated 4th ranked Raholan Pyrkiva (4-2) in Pernio 84-76 on Friday. The game without a history. PeU-Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American forward Tiel Daniels (200-92, college: Colorado St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Guard Jussi Savolainen (186-86) contributed with 5 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. PeU-Basket's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Tommi Rasi (184-98) replied with 27 points and 5 rebounds and guard Lauri Tiainen (193-90) added 18 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Raholan Pyrkiva. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory PeU-Basket went down to eighth position (Division) due to points difference. Loser Raholan Pyrkiva keeps the fourth place with two games lost. PeU-Basket will face higher ranked Korikouvot (#5) in Kouvola in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Raholan Pyrkiva will play on the road against Munkkiniemen in Helsinki and hope to win that game.
