Regular Season Round 7: Hamar - Breidablik 70-85

The most interesting game of round 7 was a home defeat of 6th ranked Hamar (3-3) by fifth ranked Breidablik (4-2) who outscored them by 15 points 85-70. The game was mostly controlled by Breidablik. Hamar managed to win third quarter 26-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Breidablik dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Hamar's 42. They outrebounded Hamar 50-35 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Tyrone Garland (185-92, college: La Salle) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Birkir Vidisson (-95) helped adding 12 points. At the losing side American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Runar Erlingsson (187-89) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Hamar players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Breidablik moved-up to third place, which they share with Valur. Hamar at the other side keeps the sixth position with three games lost. Breidablik is looking forward to face IA (#7) in Akranes in the next round. Hamar will play on the road against the league's second-placed Fjolnir in Reykjavik and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
