The game between closely ranked teams ended with thirteenth ranked Nuernberg's (3-5) home victory over 14th ranked Titans (1-7) in Nurnberg 93-79 on Friday. Nuernberg looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) contributed with 22 points, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Four Nuernberg players scored in double figures. Helge Baues (205-94) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and American power forward David Sturner (206-90, college: S.Oregon) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Titans. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nuernberg moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Baunach. Titans lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifteenth position with seven games lost. Nuernberg will face higher ranked White Wings (#6) in Hanau in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Titans will play at home against the league's second-placed Mitteldeutscher BC (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
