Regular Season Round 8: Bonn II - Schwelm 104-108

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Bonn II (4-5) lost at home to seventh ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (6-3) 108-104 on Saturday. SG Schwelmer Baskets made 29-of-38 free shots (76.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Bonn II turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Bonn II was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Lithuania swingman Andrius Mikutis (194-88, college: John Brown) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points and 8 rebounds. American swingman Harry Boyce (193-85, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American forward Anye Turner (202-92, college: W.Washington) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and Yannik Kneesch (203-96) added 24 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Bonn II. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. SG Schwelmer Baskets moved-up to fourth place in West, which they share with Salzkotten and Duesseldorf. Loser Bonn II keeps the ninth position with five games lost. SG Schwelmer Baskets will face Hertener Loewen (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bonn II will play against Herford and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
