There was an upset when much higher ranked Meridiano Baza (3-2) was outscored by seventh ranked Medacbasket (2-3) in Alicante 75-54 on Saturday. The game without a history. Medacbasket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Medacbasket forced 22 Meridiano Baza turnovers. It was a very good performance for Javier Perez (-94) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Pablo Ibanez (198-93) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Medacbasket's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard David Garcia (180-93) answered with 16 points and 7 assists and center Jorge Rodriguez (198-94) added 8 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Meridiano Baza. Medacbasket moved-up to fourth place in Group D-A, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Meridiano Baza keeps the second position with two games lost. Medacbasket will face Unicaja B (#6) in Malaga in the next round. Meridiano Baza will play at home against Coin (#5) and hope to win that game.
