Date: November 5, 2016
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Cactus Tbilisi (#5) and Sokhumi (#8). Sokhumi was smashed at home by 18 points 73-91 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-73. Cactus Tbilisi outrebounded Sokhumi 46-35 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cactus Tbilisi made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American center John Florveus (211-90, college: Georgia) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Terik Bridgeman (198, college: William Pater.) who added 22 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Four Cactus Tbilisi players scored in double figures. At the losing side Ukrainian power forward Oleksandr Rychlyuk (208-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and Merab Bokolishvili (196-92) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Cactus Tbilisi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Dinamo Tbilisi.
