Regular Season Round 7: Paterna - Sagunto 79-61

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Paterna (4-1) defeated at home 6th ranked Sagunto (2-3) 79-61 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 44-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Paterna dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Sagunto's 26. Paterna forced 26 Sagunto turnovers. Quite impressive performance for guard Victor Arnau (184-91) who helped to win the game recording 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Jose Torres (183-94) contributed with 13 points for the winners. German-Polish power forward Alexander Machowski (205-91) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Luis Carrasco added 12 points in the effort for Sagunto. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Paterna. They moved-up to third place in Group E, which they share with Lliria. Sagunto lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with three games lost. Paterna will face Valencia-2 (#7) on the road in the next round. Sagunto will play against Benidorm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
