Regular Season Round 7: Estudiantes L. - La Fecha 79-88

There was an upset when leader Estudiantes L. (4-1) lost to eleventh ranked La Fecha (2-3) in Lugo 79-88 on Sunday. Estudiantes L. trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 27-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-88 at the end of the game. Strangely Estudiantes L. outrebounded La Fecha 40-23 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for La Fecha especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. It was a very good performance for guard Millan Lopez (185-94) who helped to win the game recording 19 points. Guard Jorge Martinez (181-96) contributed with 15 points and 4 steals for the winners. Guard Roberto Abuin (190-95) answered with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Javier Beltran (198-97) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Estudiantes L.Five La Fecha and four Estudiantes L. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. La Fecha moved-up to ninth place in Group A-B, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Estudiantes L. dropped to the second position with one game lost. La Fecha will face league's second-placed Chantada at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Estudiantes L. will play against Gijon and hope to win that game.
