Regular Season Round 15: Bambitious Nara - Nishinomiya S. 79-83 OT

Fourth-ranked Bambitious Nara (5-9) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Nishinomiya S. (11-3) on Sunday. The visitors from Hyogo managed to secure only four-point victory 83-79. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 28-24 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 4-point victory in overtime. Nishinomiya S. shot 24 for 38 from the free-throw line, while Bambitious Nara only scored seven points from the stripe. Bambitious Nara was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Larry Owens (201-83, college: ORU, agency: Three Eye Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Naoki Tani (193-88) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. American forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Nigeria forward Andy Ogide (204-87, college: Colorado St., agency: HMS) added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Bambitious Nara. Bambitious Nara's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nishinomiya S. used an opportunity after Gunma lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Bambitious Nara dropped to the third place with nine games lost. Nishinomiya S. will face league's leader Toyotsu FE in Nagoya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bambitious Nara will play on the road against Tokyo Z and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
