Regular Season Round 7: Leon - Betanzos 86-76

Rather predictable result when leader Leon (5-0) won against at home 4th placed Betanzos (3-2) 86-76 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 27-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Leon made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Betanzos was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American Ted Hinnenkamp (201-93, college: Dickinson, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Pablo Ruiz (-97) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Center Marcos Rozas (202-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Senegalese Abdou Thiam (-98) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Betanzos. Five Betanzos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Leon. They keep a position of Group A-B leader. Loser Betanzos keeps the fourth place with two games lost. Leon will face BVM 2012 (#7) in Mieres in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Betanzos will play at home against Innova Chef and hope to win that game.
