Regular Season Round 8: Garzas - Indios 71-83

There was a small surprise in Plata Hidalgo where ninth ranked Ciudad (3-5) defeated 6th ranked Garzas (3-5) 83-71 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 12 points. The best player for the winners was Senegalese forward Amadou Mbodji (211-86, college: Jacksonville St.) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Jorge Camacho (203-89, college: E.Kentucky) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Mbodji is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Ciudad players scored in double figures. Brody Manjarres produced 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ciudad moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Garzas and Barreteros. Ciudad will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Garzas will play again against Ciudad (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
