Regular Season Round 9: Burgos - Marin 69-67

A very interesting game took place in Burgos. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 17th ranked Marin (3-6) to ninth ranked Burgos (4-5) 69-67 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Marin was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 26-17 third quarter run of Burgos. Center Javier Vega (205-88) nailed 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Serbian center Goran Huskic (210-92, college: Howard Col., TX) accounted for 6 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Tim Derksen (191-94, college: USF) came up with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Andres Miso (198-83) added 16 points respectively for Marin in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Burgos went down to tenth position due to points difference. Marin lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth place with six games lost. Burgos' next round opponent will be higher ranked Palma (#9) in S'Arenal and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Marin will play at home against Caceres Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
