Regular Season Round 9: SMS PZKosz - AZS PP 78-71

Everything went according to plan in Wladyslawowo where second ranked SMS PZKosz (6-1) beat 11th ranked AZS PP (2-7) 78-71 on Friday. SMS PZKosz forced 23 AZS PP turnovers. Guard Piotr Powidel (191-98) stepped up and scored 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Mikolaj Czyz (203-98) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four SMS PZKosz players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Jan Sobiech (192-96) with 17 points and Maciej Krzyminski (184-97) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for SMS PZKosz. They maintain second place in Group A with 6-1 record having 2 victories less than leader AZS PK. Loser AZS PP keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. SMS PZKosz will face Suchy Las (#13) in Poznan in the next round which should be an easy win for them. AZS PP will play at home against Trefl II Sopot and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
