Regular Season Round 5: Charleville - Boulazac 85-83

A very close game took place in Charleville between Charleville-Mezieres and Boulazac Basket. Third ranked Charleville-Mezieres (4-1) got a very close home victory over 17th ranked Boulazac Basket (1-4). Charleville-Mezieres managed to escape with a 2-point win 85-83 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-83. Charleville-Mezieres outrebounded Boulazac Basket 44-29 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Ivorian center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side and Icelandic guard Martin Hermannsson (190-94, college: LIU Brooklyn) accounted for 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Charleville-Mezieres players scored in double figures. American power forward Jarvis Williams (198-93, college: Murray St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Anthony Roberson (188-83, college: Florida) added 23 points respectively for Boulazac Basket in the defeat. Charleville-Mezieres moved-up to second place, which they share with Denain. Boulazac Basket lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with four games lost. They share it with Blois and Rouen. Charleville-Mezieres will meet JL Bourg (#4) on the road in the next round. Boulazac Basket will play against Lille Metropole (#8) and hope to win that game.
