Regular Season Round 9: Afyon - Istanbulspor 97-69

The game between second ranked Istanbulspor (7-2) and fourth ranked Afyon Bld (7-2) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Istanbulspor was crushed by Afyon Bld in Afyonkarahisar 97-69. Afyon Bld shot 63.2 percent from the field. Afyon Bld had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Istanbulspor's players. The best player for the winners was forward Hadi Ozdemir (203-83) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American point guard Mustafa Shakur (192-84, college: Arizona) chipped in 12 points and 8 assists. Afyon Bld's coach Mehmet Kabaran felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) who recorded 11 points and 7 rebounds and guard Genco Ozan Dilik (191-91) added 11 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Afyon Bld moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Istanbulspor. Afyon Bld is looking forward to face Final Genclik (#17) in Bursa in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Istanbulspor will play at home against Turk Telekom (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
