Regular Season Round 8: UCAM Murcia - FC Barcelona 83-99

Very predictable result when second ranked FC Barcelona (6-1) won against on the road 15th ranked UCAM Murcia (2-6) 99-83 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by FC Barcelona. UCAM Murcia was better in fourth quarter 27-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. FC Barcelona shot 66.0 percent from the field and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. FC Barcelona had a 27-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Finnish point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American-Montenegrin point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll.) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Argentinian point guard Facundo Campazzo (181-91) replied with 24 points and 6 rebounds and Brazilian center Vitor Faverani (212-88) added 21 points in the effort for UCAM Murcia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. UCAM Murcia's coach Oscar Quintana rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. FC Barcelona have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Real Madrid. UCAM Murcia lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth place with six games lost. FC Barcelona will face Movil Estudiantes (#11) in Madrid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. UCAM Murcia will play on the road against Sevilla and hope to win that game.
