Very important is a road loss of third ranked Caen (7-4) against seventeenth ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (3-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Caen was defeated by Gries/Oberhoffen in Bischwiller 85-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Caen. The game without a history. Gries/Oberhoffen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They outrebounded Caen 40-27 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for point guard Tommy Ghezala (184-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Ahmed Doumbia (195-89) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Gries/Oberhoffen players scored in double figures. American-Cape Verdean swingman B.J. Monteiro (196-90, college: Duquesne) responded with 24 points and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Darko Cohadarevic (205-86, college: Texas Tech, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 15 points. Newly promoted Gries/Oberhoffen maintains seventeenth place with 3-8 record. Caen at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with RAC Basket and Vitre. Gries/Oberhoffen will play against higher ranked UB Chartres (#12) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Caen will play against GET Vosges (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
