Regular Season Round 8: AZS UMCS - Widzew 69-49

There was no surprise in Lublin where 12th ranked Widzew (1-7) was outplayed by fourth ranked AZS UMCS (6-2) 69-49 on Saturday. AZS UMCS forced 24 Widzew turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Australia forward Tess Madgen (180-90) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Nigeria forward Uju Ugoka (185-93, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Two Points) who added 15 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four AZS UMCS players scored in double figures. AZS UMCS's coach Krzysztof Szewczyk used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International Aleksandra Pawlak (189-84, agency: Promotex) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Angela Beadle (190-93, college: Sam Houston St.) scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. AZS UMCS have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with AZS AJP GW and Sleza Wroclaw. Widzew lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. They share it with MKK Siedlce and TS Ostrovia. AZS UMCS is looking forward to face Energa Torun (#5) on the road in the next round. Widzew will play against the league's second-placed Sleza Wroclaw (#2) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
