Regular Season Round 14: Niigata R. - Mitsubishi K. 57-85

Bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-57 loss to sixth ranked Mitsubishi K. (9-3) in Tokyo. The game without a history. Mitsubishi K. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Mitsubishi K. outrebounded Niigata R. 50-24 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Yeliunai Genben (173-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points. International center Asako Oh (189-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Mitsubishi K. players scored in double figures. Forward Inoue Ai (172-90) replied with 16 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) added 12 points in the effort for Niigata R.Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mitsubishi K. have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 9-3 record. Niigata R. at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. They share the position with Aishin AW and Yamanashi QB. Mitsubishi K. will play against Hitachi Cougars (#9) in Hitachinaka in the next round. Niigata R. will play at home against Chanson V-M and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
