Regular Season Round 10: Santos - Panteras 81-76

Date: November 17, 2016
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Panteras (8-3) against ninth ranked Santos (3-7) on Thursday night. Visiting Panteras were defeated by Santos in a tough game in San Luis Potosi 76-81. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Panteras. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 24-18 Panteras' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 81-76 at the end of the game. Santos made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Panteras turnovers. Naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) scored 29 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward B.J. West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) chipped in 20 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican guard Wil Martinez (188-92, college: Fairmont St., agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 24 points. Panteras' coach Allans Colon rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Santos moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Indios. Panteras at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Santos will again play against league's second-placed Panteras in Aguascalientes in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Panteras will have a break next round.
