Regular Season Round 7: Faros - GS Larissas 98-66

Very expected game when 15th ranked GS Larissas (1-6) was smashed by fourth ranked Faros (5-2) in Keratsiniou 98-66 on Saturday. Faros dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to GS Larissas' 28. Faros forced 20 GS Larissas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Quite impressive performance for Vaggelis Karaboulas (198-81) who helped to win the game recording 32 points. Point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83) contributed with 8 points and 13 assists for the winners. Four Faros players scored in double figures. Faros' coach Giannis Tzimas felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Serbian guard Stefan Nikolic (193-87) answered with 18 points and forward Rafail Tsourakis (208, college: Benedictine, KS) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for GS Larissas. Faros maintains fourth place with 5-2 record. GS Larissas lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Faros will face higher ranked Doukas (#3) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GS Larissas will play at home against Amyntas Dafnis (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
