Everything went according to plan when third ranked Polonia Bytom (8-3) defeated at home 8th ranked AZS PS Gliwice (3-7) 61-47 on Saturday. They outrebounded AZS PS Gliwice 53-37 including a 40-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Piotr Wojdyr (217-90, agency: Promotex) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds. Forward Grzegorz Zadecki (195-83) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Polonia Bytom players scored in double figures. Center Piotr Krupa (204-88) answered with 6 points and 9 rebounds and guard Maciej Wasowicz (182-92) added 10 points in the effort for AZS PS Gliwice. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Polonia Bytom. They maintain third place with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Slask Wroclaw. Loser AZS PS Gliwice dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Polonia Bytom will have a break next round. AZS PS Gliwice will play at home against AZS KU PO (#5) and hope to win that game.
