Regular Season Round 11: Gornik Walbrzych - Koscian 96-58

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Gornik (9-1) outplayed 6th ranked Koscian (5-5) in Walbrzych 96-58 on Saturday. The game without a history. Gornik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Koscian's 32. They outrebounded Koscian 44-25 including a 36-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gornik looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Koscian's players. Point guard Rafal Glapinski (183-82) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Marcin Wrobel (200-87) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Gornik players scored in double figures. Forward Waldemar Kabat (196-86) answered with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Mateusz Kaczmarek (187-97) added 14 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) in the effort for Koscian. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gornik. They maintain second place with 9-1 record behind leader Slask Wroclaw, which they share with AZS AWF Mick. Loser Koscian dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Gornik will face Nowa Sol (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Koscian will play against Sudety (#6) in Jelenia Gora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
