The game in Thessaloniki was also quite interesting. Third ranked Panathinaikos (6-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Aris (3-4). Panathinaikos defeated Aris 71-59 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Panathinaikos. Aris managed to win third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Aris 41-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. International center Ioannis Bourousis (214-83) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. American guard Will Cummings (188-92, college: Temple) produced 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import Michael Jenkins (193-86, college: Winthrop) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Panathinaikos. They maintain third place with 6-1 record behind leader AEK Athens. Loser Aris keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Panathinaikos will meet at home Apollon Patras (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aris will play against Doxa Lefkadas (#11) and hope to secure a win.
