Regular Season Round 15: CD Valdivia - Puerto Montt 98-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 12th ranked Puerto Montt's (6-8) road loss to eleventh ranked Deportivo Valdivia (8-5) 87-98. Deportivo Valdivia players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a good game for American Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) who led his team to a victory with 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. The former international Gerardo Isla (201-91, college: Columbia, MO) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Deportivo Valdivia's coach Juan Manuel Cordoba allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Mike Phillips (201-90, college: Howard) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) added 24 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists in the effort for Puerto Montt. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Deportivo Valdivia maintains eleventh place with 8-5 record. Puerto Montt at the other side stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Deportivo Valdivia's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Osorno Basquetbol at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Puerto Montt will play against Las Animas (#5) and hope to win that game.
