Regular Season Round 12: Garzas - Soles 97-80

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Garzas' (7-5) home victory over 5th ranked Soles (5-7) 97-80. The game was mostly controlled by Garzas. Soles was better in third quarter 22-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They shot 61.7 percent from the field. They outrebounded Soles 38-24 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Garzas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 37 assists. The winners were led by American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) supported him with 21 points. Garzas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) did not help to save the game for Soles. Venezuelan forward Anthony Perez (206-93, college: Mississippi) added 16 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Four Soles players scored in double figures. Garzas have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Garzas maintains fourth position with 7-5 record. Soles at the other side keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Garzas' next round opponent will be again Soles (#5) in Mexicali.
