Regular Season Round 8: Koroivos - Lavrio 89-86

Bottom-ranked Koroivos managed to get a second victory, breaking the three-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they edged tenth-ranked Lavrio 89-86. Strangely Lavrio outrebounded Koroivos 46-31 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of Toddrick Gotcher (193-93, college: Texas Tech) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Kenny Hall (206-90, college: Tennessee) who added 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Koroivos players scored in double figures. Guard Brandon Young (193-91, college: De Paul) responded with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Demarius Bolds (193-84, college: Missouri Western) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Koroivos (2-6) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Lavrio. Lavrio lost fifth consecutive game. Koroivos will meet league's second-placed AEK Athens on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Lavrio will play against Panathinaikos (#3) and hope to secure a win.
