Regular Season Round 10: Naron - Estudiantes L. 96-89

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Naron (5-3) won against at home one of their biggest challengers Estudiantes L. (5-3) 96-89 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-17. But Estudiantes L. won third quarter 30-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naron had a 25-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for American guard Rob Brandenberg (188-92, college: VCU) who helped to win the game recording 29 points. The other American import forward Matt Stoll (201-92, college: Ferris St., agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Five Naron players scored in double figures. Serbian forward Dusan Juzbasic (201-99, agency: BeoBasket) replied with 30 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Marcos Ruiz (176-95) added 25 points and 5 assists in the effort for Estudiantes L.Naron have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group A-B, which they share with Estudiantes L. and Ponferrada CDP. Naron will face higher ranked Betanzos (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Estudiantes L. will play against Seis do Nadal and hope to win that game.
