No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Valladolid Univ. (6-2) beat on the road 7th ranked Mondragon (3-5) 81-67 on Saturday. The game without a history. Valladolid Univ. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a very good performance for forward Axel Castillo (194-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Pedro Gonzalez (195-89) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Four Valladolid Univ. players scored in double figures. Power forward Ivan Saez de Cortazar (198-91) replied with 13 points and guard Martxel Balanzategui (191-92) added 9 points in the effort for Mondragon. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valladolid Univ. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group A-A, which they share with 3 other teams. Mondragon lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Valladolid Univ. will face league's second-placed Ardoi in Zizur Mayor in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mondragon will play on the road against Zarautz Ulacia (#11) and hope to win that game.
