Regular Season Round 10: Tenerife Naut. - Gran Canaria B 81-85

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Gran Canaria B (6-4) defeated much higher ranked Tenerife Naut. (7-2) in Santa Cruz 85-81 on Saturday. Tenerife Naut. was trailing by 12 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 21-16 charge of Gran Canaria B, which allowed them to win the game. It was a very good performance for guard Joaquin Portugues (185-95) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Guard Saulo Roman (186-98) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Cuban power forward Georffri Silvestre (202-79) replied with 22 points and 8 rebounds and guard Francisco Pomares (192-94) added 12 points in the effort for Tenerife Naut.Four Gran Canaria B and five Tenerife Naut. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gran Canaria B moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with Alcobendas and Azuqueca. Loser Tenerife Naut. keeps the second position with two games lost. Gran Canaria B will face Estudiantes B (#12) in Madrid in the next round where they are favorite.
