Regular Season Round 13: Quimper - Caen 94-77

The game between Top Four teams took place in Quimper. First ranked host Quimper UJAP (11-2) defeated 3rd placed Caen (8-5) 94-77. The game was mostly controlled by Quimper UJAP. Caen managed to win fourth quarter 29-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Quimper UJAP looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Caen's players. 24 personal fouls committed by Caen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Kevin Mondesir (204-91) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Quimper UJAP players scored in double figures. At the losing side American-Cape Verdean swingman B.J. Monteiro (196-90, college: Duquesne) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and guard Thomas Cornely (190-91) scored 15 points and 5 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Quimper UJAP have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-2 record, which they share with Souffel. Caen at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with St Vallier. Quimper UJAP is looking forward to face UB Chartres (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Caen will play against Vendee Challans (#17) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
